Our library closed on May 1 for relocation. Anything we took out of the library after April 11 is not due back until August 2. So you know I’ve taken advantage of this. I have until August 2 to read all these books (along with other non-library books) – no problem, right? So much for #ReadYourOwnDamnBooks.

I’m sure those who packed up and moved the library were very grateful to you! I like the idea of the maple leaf on the spines.
I do wonder if it was part of their plan to get as many books taken out as possible – less work for them! The shelves did have big bare spots in them on Saturday when we were there.
It sounds like a master plan to me.

Haha, I would have done exactly the same thing! Like Susan, I was thinking that the librarians were probably happy they didn’t have to pack up the books that you checked out. I just checked out Jane Steele on Friday. I hope it’s as good as I want it to be.
I’ve got my fingers crossed for Jane Steele, too! I feel like it’s one the could go either way.

Awesome stacks! Nice to see Bill Streever’s “Cold” in there — I do hope you enjoy it. I agree you were more restrained than you could have been.
I had to factor in the kids’ books. And, I really was trying to restrain myself – I’m worried that I won’t even be able to get through these ones (you know, with other books distracting me from elsewhere)!
Nice to see George Elliott Clarke and Budge Wilson and all those maple leaves! I’m sure you can read all of these books before August.
I hope so! There are so many good ones, it’s going to be hard to choose which book to read next!

Isn’t it fun? It was fun to collect my own, but also so much fun to help the kids get theirs!
Kid #3 wins because she is the youngest and not as careful when choosing her books as her siblings have learned to be. But, in this case, it doesn’t really matter! 🙂
Yes, it is Maus. I picked it up to see if my son would be interested in it, but thought maybe I’d read it first. What do you think? Will he be traumatized by anything in the book?
I wouldn’t recommend it for a child under 10. It’s a Holocaust book after all, so that should be fair warning that the child should be mature and ready to read more serious material.
He’s 13, but I’ll still have a read-through first. He’s sensitive. When he was little we read a book about the Titanic, and he was upset about it for months.
It does look a lot but they are mostly rather slim volumes so maybe not an issue after all.. Imagine if every one was a nineteenth century chunkster…..
I will just tackle them one at a time and see how I do!

The Graveyard Book that we have is actually the graphic novel version. I will probably get a chance to read through it (mostly because I’m interested in it myself). Have you read the graphic version? I wonder how similar they are?
Well, by an interesting coincidence, the version of ‘The Graveyard Book’ that I read was the graphic novel version, Naomi 🙂 It is so beautiful which different artists working on different parts. Ooh, ooh, Benioff’s City of Thieves=EXCELLENT!! And I loved Our Souls at Night! I’ll be interested to see what someone much younger than myself will think of it! Anxious to see what you think of A Monster Calls. Have yet to read another of his after The Crane Wife. You’ve enough to last a while! 😀
All 3 of the books you’ve mentioned I’ve had out before and had to return them unread. I really hope I can get to them this time, because I’ve heard great things about all of them!

This really made me smile. We used to make midnight trips to the library with the stacks of books–seven kids’ worth–to drop them in the overnight slot to avoid paying the overdue fines–5 cents per day per book really added up fast.
Haha, yes, I’m hoping that we won’t lose any before it’s time to take them back. I think it’s going to be quite a hunt. 🙂
1) I’m so jealous of the extended time period! 2) It’s smart you’ve taken the photos so you can run around looking for them in give months if you don’t have a dedicated space for them, which you’ve just said above me on this comment 😀
