Book Spine Poetry: April 2020

It’s been almost a month since my last post. I’ve missed you.

In light of the times we’re living in right now – #Covid19 #Pandemic2020 – and because it’s poetry month, I was motivated to play with my books.

Here’s what I came up with…

Little Fortress

Another day, inside.

The hours… an ocean of minutes.

The sacrifice? The space between us.

Blue? Out of my mind?

More happy than not.

Home.

Love lives here.

Do not say we have nothing.

Tiny, beautiful things…

birds, art, life,

the dusty bookcase,

sisters,

the joy of friendship,

chocolate!

The merry heart.

Inside,

all of us in our own lives.

We’re all in this together.

This next poem, inspired by a true story, was created by child #3…

A Bird in the House

A bird in the house?

Absolutely normal chaos.

The art of keeping cool?

Stay where you are… and then leave.

A mother-daughter collaboration (also inspired by true events)…

The Leftovers

Do not say we have nothing

in the kitchen.

And because tea is helping to keep me sane these days…

Tea for Two

The two of us,

three cups of tea.

Time and again,

our daily bread.

All that matters,

the capacity for infinite happiness.

What are your small comforts right now? Any poems to share? Comfort reads?

Stay well, friends!

I love love love this. And the leftovers poem is my favourite 🙂 I just finished reading a book that would be perfect to make poetry out of-it’s called This Has Nothing To Do With You…

I was considering that book as well, but it didn’t fit into any of my poems. Maybe next time! Do you think you’ll put any poems together?

Gosh, I’m just slammed at the moment with stuff to do, trying to fit it into my youngest’s nap times and after they go to bed…I’m actually working with a web designer on redoing my site, it’s very exciting!

These are amazing! Genuinely beautiful poems. And how handy that you had two books around called Inside 🙂 I’m glad you have tea and books (as well as family) to keep you company.

    • Naomi says:

Thanks, Rebecca! I had fun. And was also happy about having two “Inside” books – it worked out well!
Oh, I have lots of company! 🙂

    • Naomi says:

      Thanks, Susan!
We’re doing okay here so far. Some days are wintry, but some are springy, so there is hope for warm weather! Glad to hear from you… take care!
